PALM GLADES SHORTHAIRS MAKE WONDERFUL FAMILY COMPANION DOGS, GREAT PERSONAL HUNTING DOGS AND, GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY, NATIONAL CALIBER COMPETITION DOGS.

Established in 1972 we have a combined experience of over 70 years of hunting, training and breeding the versatile German Shorthair Pointer.

In 1990, we began competing our dogs in AKC field trials with great success having finished numerous Field Champions and Amateur Field Champions, a Dual Champion (DC Palm Glades Sweet Sage) and a National Field Champion (NGDC/FC/AFC Palm Glades Shameless Sally.

Hunting, training, competing and breeding our dogs is a passion, not a business. Every litter is carefully planned with a continuing goal of excellence and improvement. We breed for temperament, field ability with style and correctness of form and are recognized by the American Kennel Club as an ‘AKC Breeder of Merit’.

When asked what blood lines we have, we can only say ‘PALM GLADES’. Over forty years of selective breeding has created a distinct and individual line. Given the opportunity to compete, PALM GLADES SHORTHAIRS are national caliber field trial dogs as well as great personal hunting dogs that point, back and retrieve naturally. They are within correct boundaries for the standard.

While our dogs are bred for competition (we have been competing our dogs in AKC Field Trials with great success since the early 1990s) this makes them all the better for hunters, because all of the attributes that make a great hunting dog are the attributes that are REQUIRED in a field trial dog.

Field trials are very important to a breeding program providing a proving ground for the dogs abilities.

Awards & Recognition

Our litters are in-home whelped & raised. Each puppy is handled every day from birth, insuring all receive one-on-one individual attention ‘Baby Love’. This helps to make Palm Glades Shorthairs affectionate, well-socialized and trainable dogs that are wonderful family companions.

All dogs used for breeding purposes are AKC Registered, OFA Certified (hips screened for dysplasia) and DNA Typed (proof of parentage on file with AKC).

We are members of the German Shorthair Pointer Club of America, the German Shorthair Pointer Club of Atlanta, and the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of South Georgia.

We live in the Florida Panhandle (Wakulla County) in the middle of the Apalachicola National Forest near the small town of Sopchoppy.
